All my new, shiny white t-shirts seem to share the same destiny: I wear them the exact same day when my son has spaghetti bolognese. He scoops a handful of spaghetti, I persuade him to put it back on the place, he reluctantly agrees, but refuses to eat more, and demands to be picked up. Now I refuse, because his hands are dirty. The ensuing game involves all possible faults familiar from football, including grabbing mama’s shirt.

The above t-shirt had two stains. I took an old scarf (Jackpot, too bright to be worn so close to the face) and cut out two flowers. I then ironed the flowers with starch to make them more manageable (note: in retrospect, would have been easier to starch the scarf before cutting it). Then I took some iron-on hem tape and cut pieces to fit the backside. For a final touch, I sewed some lime green cotton yarn around the edges to prevent the flowers from detaching during washes. In the washing machine, through the tumble dryer and presto!
